Common questions

How much waste should I add for LVP flooring?

5–10% is standard — 8% covers most rooms with a straight layout. Add 5% more for diagonal layouts and 10% more for herringbone. Small rooms and many doorways push toward the high end.

Is 10% waste enough for tile?

For straight-lay standard formats, yes. Large formats over 16 inches and mosaics need more (breakage and layout cuts), and diagonal or herringbone patterns add 5–10% on top of the base.

Why do installers add waste factor at all?

Cuts at walls, damaged pieces in every lot, irregular boards, and future repairs. A floor without spare material has no repair stock — waste factor is also your attic insurance policy.
